Should I continue ThunderMOD?

Before you vote, read the following text.
It takes more than 72 hours of work just to translate Thunder from Chinese to English. It takes another 72 hours to go through the hex file to hardcode the translations. Making ThunderMOD actually breaches the license agreement of Xunlei Thunder. Although I am in Malaysia but that doesn’t mean I am free from lawsuits. They (Xunlei / Thunder) may sue me anytime from now. ThunderMOD was actually for my own personal use. Because someone said that I should share it with the world, and I did. And it end up other users having problem with ThunderMOD. I am not comfortable with that as I do not face any problem downloading using ThunderMOD.
So, kindly be fair to this poll. Kindly state the reason why I should continue or stop.

I’m sorry to let you down because i voted NO.
This is because you said it is against the license and also it is buggy. buggier than the original xunlei. Just the ori thing without ads would be good enough.

It is buggy sometimes, like when I need to download a torrent file using TMod, I need to drag the files into TMod. Probably because I do not know how to use.
Besides, when you on it for a long time, it takes up quite some memory usage. (can be solved easily by closing and opening it again)
But overall it provides convenience, no ads at all, as compared to XL. Sometimes the ads still pop up at the bottom right corner.
The language is definitely a plus, even with the language translator pack for XL, some of the words still remain ?????
Anyway, great effort for providing us with the language pack and TMod all these while. Without you, I think I’m probably stuck with e-mule or bitcomet.
If possible please release a patched version together with a unpatch one because sometimes there might be some error when patching although it is the same version.
What do you mean by patched and unpatached one? If you are gonna open an unpatched ThunderMOD, you’re asking for trouble, seriously. Unpatched ThunderMOD will not work with this version.
I voted NO because in this world, no one gonna appreciate for what you had did and shared. If you are willing to share, it’s great. But if someone still complaining and don’t know how to appreciate, quit it. Let them use the original one.
So far THUNDERMOD I used quite good. Nothing much to complain. Just my PC is too laoya and kinda laggy d.

Thanks for your comments. There are people who appreciates my work and some doesn’t. I think I will no longer release a newer version of ThunderMOD.
It’s not because of the people complaining, it’s because I have no time to deal with it.

thx for the great effort hehehunter, ive been using ur thundermod for months. been quite satisfied of it since it has no annoying ads popping out like the ori 1 does.
as u hav not been updating the mod n i decided to go for the ori considering they hav sum improvements but it was a big letdown, tremendous speed drop. ive learnt dat it requires a membership to enjoy the normal speed, seems they r going commercial i guess, which is bad(for me, no money)
registering an account was a mess… not getting any response for a membership so ia hav to stick back to ur thundermod which doesnt require anything but quite outdated
my conclusion, u shud work on a new thundermod

I remembered stuck at a much more slower download speed before I started using Thunder. The original Thunder (before they updated it) was good except for the annoying ads and language, I had to change my system locale just to read from the software (which is VERY troublesome), until I found your language pack some time last year. It brought great convenience to me, as I can edit my documents and see them in the appropriate fonts.
It’s been awhile since I viewed your blog, I’ve found out there’s a ThunderMOD released just a few months ago from a friend. I downloaded it, used it, and loved it! It was all that I’ve been expecting, no ads, fast download speed, and it was in English.
What I wanted to say was, thanks for the effort, I greatly appreciated your work and hope it would continue. Keep up the good work!

The problem is, the new Thunder is not even using language pack. I have no idea how I may change the language without hard coding it.

I think U should continue,U R very smart,i can see no one in malaysia can do the MOD and infect U should do the MOD for utorent as well. U should go on and make Chinese and Malaysia PROUD.
Who knows one day U can come out wif yo own P2P software and whole Malaysian R using it.

first of all i let you know that i have been using bitcomet for a long time. sometimes later i just learn that it consume my bandwith like hell so my Chinese friend told me to change to Thunder/xunlei. at first it was very pening for me because chinese language. after a while i just stumble on your website and i`m lovin` it. but i think you dont need to release new version. i on my way to make a web and its tough like hell. you should release what you have done. and let the other continue your work if there is one. btw i`m a malay but i dont care about race and all. from bottom of my heart, thank you for all your hard work. you earn it.
upload at torrent to solve licensing issue

I am a Malaysian Chinese living abroad in US. For years I had paid big USD $$$ for local Asian Video Store, $150 annual fee just to rent some very old Asian dramas from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Until one day, a China friend from chatbox introduced me to use P2P and BTChina site (saidly this site is down permanently). Xunlei is definitely my favorite P2P software to use.
I was using official Thunder until my PC got infected with virus last month. Although I managed to clean it, I did PC restore to set it back to initial factory setting. I have Dell preloaded Windows XP Home edition. I installed AppLocale, but was not able to install MUI Pack from XP Professional. I have another laptop which I bought from my ex-company before I left but the group license expired and product key no longer valid.
Anyhow, to make the story short, without the MUI Pack installed, Thunder will not show proper Chinese characters. Your ThunderMod works like a charm for me. The trick is to change the Chinese name of the torrent to English before you open it. After download complete, rename the filename back to Chinese or English.
Hey, HeHeHunter, I’m a man from China.
First, I vote “you should continue ThunderMOD”, because it’s a good way to make Xunlei can be used by guys not Chinese. But, what I must say is, many software made by Chinese don’t share their source code, and maybe don’t want someone modify or translate. I don’t know why they do this, but it’s a reality in China.
You know, most Chinese must use Xunlei Chinese edition. I use your ThunderMOD, just because I use a XP English edition now, and I don’t want some software I used show Chinese. Thanks for your working!
And, if you find any good software in Chinese, maybe I can help you to translate Chinese to English.
